When my husband and I first started dating, I had just finished my 15 year tenure at KCRW. I gave him some of my recent radio show recordings which he kept in his car and he became OBSESSED with this one particular song. However, he didn’t know what the song was because the tape ran out before I announced the title, oops! Eventually we sorted out that it was “Japanese Gum“ by Her Space Holiday. Soon afterwards we were able to see Marc Bianchi/Her Space Holiday perform at the Echo and my husband’s fandom was cemented for life. Even now he tries to get me to invite Marc for dinner, never mind that he lives in a completely different city.
Her Space Holiday‘s debut album, “Home Is Where You Hang Yourself” is being given a 25th Anniversary Edition release so no better time to meet (or re-meet) this talented artist. You can literally pick any album at random and probably love it but tbh my particular favorite is “The Young Machines”.
